We did say "Award Winning" . . .

This section includes information about awards and extra qualifications that you might find of interest.

Scholarships, grants and prizes

Peoples Postcode Lotteries,
Green Challenge Scholarship

You might wonder what some of the good causes are that are supported by lottery grants - apart from team GB athletics, of course.  Well, some went towards a scholarship that covered all the course fees for my MBA.  It was awarded on a competitive basis after a detailed submission and an elevator pitch to an Open University and Postcode Lotteries panel in Edinburgh in 2016.

Bailey-Comino Foundation Grant

My final module in the B.Eng. honours course with the Open University, T450 - The Engineering Project , looked at bolted flange joint design in process piping, and attracted a £1,000 grant from the Bailey-Comino Foundation.

British Glass prize

Modules undertaken for the Bachelor of Science degree met the requirements for an undergraduate diploma in pollution control, concurrently awarded by the Open University in 1998.  In that context, work on the module T237 - Environmental Control and Public Health was recognized by receipt of a £400 cash prize for outstanding coursework, sponsored by British Glass group, presented personally by Professor Andrew Porteous. It was a lot of money in those days!

Other qualifications . . .

APM Project Management Qualification (PMQ)

Issued by the Association for Project Management in 2019, following training at Wood Group in Reading, the PMQ qualification recognizes a wide breadth of knowledge in project management and covers knowledge areas from the APM Body of Knowledge, including budgeting and cost management, conflict management, communication, earned value management, leadership, negotiation, procurement, sponsorship, and teamwork.

Music

This might not be the number one transferable skill on your checklist for KTS limited, but Jerry Kearns' grade 8 piano (in 2013) and ABRSM level 4 Diploma in piano performance (2017) are cherished awards.
